Grace Properties Real Estate News
30 years ago I started Grace Properties. I had just quit the teaching profession and endured the teacher strike of 1980-81, sold out my interest in Fiori Grace Pub and Café, and had worked for another broker for 6 months or so. I was ready for the next challenge. I then walked into one of the worst markets in years….prime at 15% or higher…recession time…to get a loan, even at 15%, was very difficult. Quite an auspicious start. It was a couple of years before Grace Properties became successful. But by 1984 things were rolling along and I have been here ever since with a couple of sabbaticals to make life interesting (one was to research starting Grace Brothers Brewery again. It was a lovely year and a half but at the end it was clear it wasn’t to be.) I did work a short time for a couple of other offices but working on my own has always been the best fit.
Today we are in the midst of the worst real estate market I have experienced and, equally as important, the rules of the game seem to change constantly. Brokers need to continually educate themselves on these changes and be able to articulate them to their clients. My belief has been that once we get through the backlog of foreclosed homes (called REO’s for real estate owned-by the bank) we will see a return to a more normal market. In fact at this time we are experiencing low inventory and multiple offers on many homes. We are still seeing low prices and that obviously is driving the market.
My son Ben is revamping my web site and I added a blog to the site. There is always a need to improve and update. Over the years I have heard the term “exposure” directed to the difference between large and small real estate brokerages. The implication being that only large firms have adequate exposure to the market to sell and buy. With the advent of a multitude of websites having access to MLS and the option of client portals-instant access to new listings sent directly to the client from MLS- the playing field is pretty even. Knowledge, experience and integrity are the foundations of any good real estate firm. So, you are in good hands with Grace Properties. I very much appreciate your business over the years and your referrals. Have a wonderful summer and please keep me in mind when your friends or family have any real estate needs.
