Home Buying Market Flat-Opportunity Knocks

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

In every market downturn there are opportunites for savvy buyers-be they home owners or investors.. While we have many months of inventory to absorb there are always areas where inventory is traditionally scant. Be sure to not pass up a home in an area you really would like to live in for a few dollars. Sometimes we get caught up in how cheap we can buy something and forget we are buying a place to live, a place for children to play and a neighborhood we like. In a few years the difference in price will seem trivial but you will be living where you want to live.

Today’s market is crowded with inventory, lacking a first-time homebuyer base and therefore a bit precarious. If you can purchase without having to sell you are in the driver’s seat. Good loans abound and the softness in pricing will more than make up for a little rate rise. Be smart, be a contrarian and make the right decision-buy where you want to live not where you can get the cheapest home. Home and house-a  world of difference.
