There are many For Sale signs across town. Inventory is up and sales down and prices down. Sound like a familiar refrain? We have been through it before and survived- that is a given. The when and in what shape is yet to be determined. But there are some simple lessons to be learned if you want to sell you r home in this market:
· Scrub it till it sparkles. Clean and dust and take out stains. Open windows and doors and air it out, Simple but amazingly not always done
· Clean the Clutter. The less stuff you have the bigger the house looks, even the closets. Less furniture is better, the rooms look bigger
· Details..like patching, replace dripping faucets, try to organize your garage
· Use light. A dark house is not inviting nor calming-it is just dark.
· Use flowers and spotlights. Often the creative use of pillows and blankets can enhance a room.
· Paint. Don’t be afraid to create definition of rooms and space. Earth tones are not a default in a color scheme
What is the worst thing that can happen if you don’t sell? You have fixed all those things on your” To Do list’ and repainted.
Pricing. It is easy to answer this question but it is not always received with open arms. Check the sales, go to open houses and see what is for sale in your area and all over Santa Rosa.
